I really prefer them. They rotate so fast that you really feel your teeth have had a good clean. The heads on the brushes are small so they can get everywhere and it is so effortless! I have just replaced mine and would never go back to manual brushing. My husband has now converted.

A popular Consumer magazine recently did a study on the effectiveness of power toothburshes and found that they do not do any better job than a regular toothbrush. However, they did say one possible benefit is that people tend to brush longer with an power toothbrush than a regular one, which is obviously beneficial.

If you do go with a power toothbrush, go for an inexpesive model, they say... since the most expensive brush does not do any better than the least expensive brush.

I use a power brush because I like how it feels and I suppose because of that I brush longer.

I highly recommend a sonicare toothbrush. I know its expensive but I haven't had a cavity in 4 years and every year before that I always had to have filings.
It is worth it.

I switched to an Oral B electric toothbrush 2 years ago and immediately noticed a difference! The first time I used the Oral B electric toothbrush my teeth had that "just from the dentist" feeling. I will never go back to a manual toothbrush.

I like the sonic care line of tooth brushes.... They did a study at a college and found that while nothing replaces flossing there bush is pretty close to it. It really pushes the water and tooth paste between the teeth. Also it protects your gums, if you are an aggressive busher you will get recession of your gums at will lead to root exposure and sensitivity to hot and cold. An electric brush would stop running if you push too hard. You do not need to have one but they are really great. If you check with your dentist they might sell them at there cost. Also check they might have a mail in rebate as well. If you choose not to use one always use a soft toothbrush.

Trust me, it doesn't matter if its manual or electric. Manual toothbrushes are considered the gold standards, but electric toothbrushes are also good. So, you can use any of these as long as it doesn't hurt your gingiva and/or your teeth.
