Hi,I did the following:
What are the most effective household cleaners?My house is disgusting and I would like to completely clean and disinfect. What are the best cleaners and methods to use.

Buy a steamer and some rubber gloves.
I am amazed at what a steamer takes off!

Also Magic Erasers do a great job on
scuff marks on walls.

I like Clorox with Bleach Products in the bathroom
and kitchen. Wear old clothes though, because it will
bleach out a spot on what you are wearing
if you get it on you.

I use a microfiber cloth and the steamer
on windows when I am really cleaning them.
For a touch up, Windex and a paper towel.

For floors I mix up 1/2 cup bleach, 1 cup
rubbing alcohol and a splash of dish washing
detergent in a half gallon jug, Add water to fill
jug, then mop away. I use it straight, then rinse.

All clorax cleaners for the bathroom. I use sponges, brushes, and lots of paper towels. In the kitchen I use Grease lighting with a sponge. I spray my whole apartment with Lysol spray. I use windex on all glass and mirrors.

i had this same problem when i first moved into my new apt.. it was obviously neglected in the cleaning dept for years so everything needed to be completely scrubbed down.. many good products didnt clean thoroughly enough for me so i have an entire cabinet full of cleaning products... my favesbeing pine-sol, clorox and Mr. Clean...the problem is these did not work in the areas that were the worst.. for the toilet stains that were the hardes i found that a cleaner called Kaboom, its purple and about 4 bux but u let it sit and then about 20-min later scrub the crap out of it (literally :)) if all does not come out spray again and let sit another 20 min.
for walls i use a mixture of pine sol and water in a spray nottle or the magic eraser.. for the kitchen it is the same or clorox clean up.. febreze everything..dryer sheets in vents..febreze and lysol the carpets.. for wood floors use vinegar is best...

Simple Green-- it is available in regular or lemon scent(smells good) and is completely non toxic. Cleans everything without much scrubbing. Available at Ace Hardware stores.

I used to clean apartments the people had vacated to prepare them for new renters. The ones people were evicted from were terrible!!! I used cheap oven cleaner on the toilets, sinks, bath tub, showers and shower doors. Let it set a few minutes and most everything just wipes off, NO SCRUBBING lol. If all the soap scum doesn't come off respray and let sit. If the floors were bad enough I even used it there. But!! it removes the was so you have to rewax the floor when finished. I wouldn't use it on a no wax floor. Don't get it on painted surfaces or varnished surfaces, it will remove it. I have used it on wood varnished cabinet doors but you have to wipe almost as soon as you spray and it's too risky. If you choose this option, make sure you wear one of those paper masks and open windows and turn on vent fans if possible.

For the counter tops and walls I used just soapy dishwater. If there were stains that didn't come off....Mr clean Magic Eraser. Sometimes I would have to use Clorox Gel and let it set to remove stains.

For mirrors and windows dawn dish liquid and water and a squeegee or vinegar and water.

For my stuff at home such as wood tables, chairs, floors and cabinets doors. I use murphys oil soap.

The less I spent and the less time it took me the more profitable the job was :)
