Hi,I did the following:
Do those vacumn cleaners you rent for a day really work well?I have a few pet stains in my carpet and have scrubbed and scrubbed them by hand only to find a slight stain still set in and a musty smell to go along with it. Do those wet vacum cleaners you can rent for a day work well at getting the smell out of carpet? Thanks for all of your help.

I had the same issue and yes they do work.. HOWEVER, do some checking.. you can have a professional come in and do a better job.. Not to mention you dont have to go through the hassle involved in picking it up, preping, using, cleaning and returning. It is not that much difference in price! Check your area.
