Hi,I did the following:
Where do I find clear plastic paper that goes over pictures to draw a portrait?I took an art class my freshman year of high school, and the teacher taught us this technique where we put clear plastic with squares on it over a picture, then we drew the picture square by square. I am looking to do this technique again, but I don't remember what that paper was called, and I don't know where I can get it. I hope I have been clear enough, but I thank you for your help.

You can do the same thing with tracing paper. Just make your square any size you like. You can buy this paper at any hobby store.

How about just plain wax paper.You get it at a grocery store.Mostly used for wrapping sandwiches.I've used it for similar activities like you have mentioned.

In my art classes we always measured the points out and used a pencil to draw directly onto photocopied images of the picture our teacher wanted us to use. When I later bought a figure drawing book, I didn't want to ruin the spine by photocopying it and I certainly couldn't draw directly onto it, so I asked the librarian to photocopy a piece of graph paper onto an overhead transparency and that solved the problem. I had to be careful not to scratch the ink off though.

If you're not still in school, I believe you can buy transparencies from Wal Mart and photocopy it at a Kinkos, or use your home computer, or whatever will work best.

Hi,

Here in Portugal we call it vegetable paper, I guess it's called tracing paper there.
Wax paper may also result but it's too opaque (sp?) to give you a good definition.
You can buy at an art supplies store or a good stationary shop.
Place the paper against an image or text to see if you can see well through it.
