GE 26 Watt Energy Smart CFL - 6 Pack - 100 Watt Replacement
- Small Compact White bulbs (CFL)
- Contains 6 bulbs per pack
- Uses about 26 watts of electricity
- Light Output - 1750 lumens - like a 100 watt bulb
- Life - 8000 hours
Electronic flicker-free starting. Replace standard 100 watt bulbs. Uses just 26 watts, same light as a regular 100 watts.
GE 26 Watt Energy Smart CFL - 6 Pack - 100 Watt Replacement
Hi,I did the following:
When light bulbs are connected in series why do the light bulbs get dimmer? When light bulbs are connected in series why do the light bulbs get dimmer?
When light bulbs are connected in parallel why do the light bulbs get brighter?

because in series circuits the bulbs share current so the get dimmer example if a series circuit that has two bulbs is supplied w/ a 220v the it will be devided into 2 so it will become 110v for each bulb.

When they are connected in series, the current is required to go through both bulbs, and because of ohms law, the more resistance means the less current, and thus a less bright bulb (the bulbs add resistance). When they are it parrel, the current goes through both bulbs, and they are independent, which means that the resistance for each is just the resistance for one (and they don't have to 'share' the current), so the bulb is brighter.
-Just a note, when the current originally comes out of the battery (and goes back in it), the current is higher than if the bulbs were in series because the current that comes out is for both of the bulbs combined.

in series, they get dimmer because the voltage across each one is half what it was before.
in parallel they do NOT get brighter, they stay the same, because they have the same voltage across them.

The light bulb operates because of the electrical resistance.
The filament acts like a resistor. The resistance is high enough the filament gets hot enough to glow.
Series Circuit
When two light bulbs are connected in series there are two filaments (resistors) in a single line instead of one therefore the light bulbs burn dimmer.
Parallel Circuit
Each light bulb is connected to the source individually. Each light bulb is supplied power individually. Several light bulbs can be connected to a parallel circuit without loss due to resistance.
What do you think? Answer below!
