Escaping the Dark Age of Medicine (Breaking the Barricades of Colds and Flu)
Today, like in the Dark Ages, the Common cold is a gateway to death.
Every year in the U.S. U.K. and Canada, each child risks life with between 4 and 9 colds, and each adult between 2 and 4 colds each.
Colds can and do lead to many other fatal diseases like:
• Influenza
• Acute Bronchitis
• Pneumonia,
• Tuberculosis
These diseases Kill millions every decade.
Today, like in the Dark Ages, the prescribed cures were and are as deadly as the diseases.
• Pharmaceutical Drugs are the 5th leading cause of annual deaths.
• Acetaminophen is the leading cause of liver failure in the Western world, and the leading cause of drug-induced liver failure in the United States.
Today, like in the Dark Ages Germs represent the Number One Killer of Human Beings in the world.
Well No More !
It's well past time to step into the 21st century, where Human Life is our most precious resource, and Human Knowledge knows
Escaping the Dark Age of Medicine (Breaking the Barricades of Colds and Flu)
Hi,I did the following:
what can i do for a cold/cough while i am breastfeeding?aside from hot tea or honey does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do or take to stop my cough. i'm not big on cold medicines so natural remedies would be great. although, after three days with hardly any sleep between the baby and the coughing i'll try almost anything! the headache and stuffy nose i can live with, but the coughing is keeping not just me awake but my poor husband too.

a trip to the doctors....after 3 days of it I'm suprised you haven't gone yet.
You need to check that its not a chest infection/bronchitis or similar if you are coughing like that for this long.
If it is you'll need antibiotics, if its not they can tell you what more natural remedies will help
in the meantime take paracetamol or ibuprofen for the headache (ibuprofen is ok when breastfeeding but not while pregnant) and sit in a nice hot, steamy bathroom for 15mins to break up the crap on your chest causing the cough. It might give you a little reprieve. Or fill a bowl with boiling water & eucalytpus oil and place your face over it with a towel over your head...an old trick that works.
Put some 'Vicks' on your chest and soles of your feet.

In the case of a severe cough, orange juice and water can be taken till the severity is reduced. The procedure is to take the juice of an orange diluted in a cup of warm water, every two hours. Check out http://usefulinfo-cough.blogspot.com/ for more remedies and information.

Caution Giving Children Cough and Cold Medicines
FDA is cautioning parents and caregivers about giving their children cough and cold medicines. FDA strongly recommends that cough and cold medicines NOT be given to children younger than 2 years old because serious and potentially life-threatening side effects can occur, including convulsions, rapid heart rates, decreased levels of consciousness and death. FDA is currently reviewing the use of these medicines in children aged two to 11. While the review is being completed, here are some recommendations for parents and caregivers if they give cough and cold medicines to children two and older: • Understand that these medicines won't cure or shorten the duration of the common cold. They're just intended to relieve symptoms. • Be sure to follow the dosing directions on the label. • Check the "Drug Facts" label to learn which active ingredients are in the products. Using two medicines that have the same or similar active ingredients could give a child too much of that drug. • Only use measuring spoons or cups that come with the medicine or those made specially for measuring drugs. Otherwise, the wrong amount could be given. FDA Patient Safety News: April 2008 For more information, please see our website: www.accessdata.fda.gov
