Hi,I did the following:
Good trendy/chic alternative to paper/plastic plates, utensils and cups?I am going to host a housewarming for a sizeable group of people, so I want to use disposable plates, utensils and cups. What are good trendy/chic alternative to the conventional paper/plastic plates/cups/utensils? (Just for instance, I hear that they have disposable bamboo plates now)

With a large group of people I'm not sure you want to go that route, as disposal will be difficult. It will, no doubt, be costly also. But I have seen many nice plastic ware sets around that are really funky and up to date. Just check around. Target has lots of alternatives. What kind of utensils would you use? If not plastic then metal and that means clean up. Which can be done but you just have to decide on that.

Yep, not only bamboo plates, but cutlery too. The New York Times featured them a couple of weeks ago in the Thursday style section, so I'd check out their web site.
If you're ordering booze from a wine merchant they'll usually hire you glasses for free or a nominal fee.

Since this is a house warming, I'm assuming this is your first party.I'm sure the bamboo plates will cost you at least $ 1 a piece, that you will be throwing away. Why not take this opportunity to start building yourself a " party closet" Go to your local Dollar Tree or Ikea and buy what you need. Ikea might cost you more than a dollar, but you will use these items over and over again. You can make the clear plates work for any party by putting a different colored charger plate under them. The glasses at Ikea are really quite nice for the price.I would buy the flatware at Ikea. You can shop for the Ikea items on line. Set out large tubs of soapy water for the guests to put their empty plates in ( a trash can placed next to the tubs is a good idea).Plastic and paper are never chic. Over the years, you have this ready supply on hand, that you can upgraded and add to it over a period of time. To cut the cost of your first party you could use colored ( plastic )flatware to match to color of your party theme.
